| The applicant of this two years project, financed by the European Union through the Daphne III 2008 programme is the Lombardy Region. The transnational partnership covers Italy, Spain, Romania, France and Bulgaria. The project intends to contribute to the protection of children and young people from violence, by enlarging the available knowledge-base on daily services targeted to them in each geographical area of the partnership, by exchanging good practices and by constructing a set of self-evaluation indicators on the quality of services. |

| his work stems from a previously financed Progress project, centred on young people who lived for some time within residential structures, which is a group at high risk of poverty and social exclusion. The previous project highlighted the need for a stronger preparation to independent life and for a reference figure acting as a guidance for life choices. The current project consists in experimenting in Bologna (Italy), Sofia (Bulgaria) and Bucharest (Romania) the training and the integration of a professional worker acting as an intermediary between care leavers and local services. |

| The general aim of this project proposal is the promotion of appropriate and effective forms of foster care. The specific objective of the project proposal is the empowerment of civil society organisations operating in the partnership territories, in favour of children in need of substitute families without the breaking of family ties. In particular we will: identify the role of organisations in promoting foster care; create of a set of indicators able to evaluate the effectiveness of services and social programs; promote identified best practices. |
